July 2019

We know we are blessed. To live in a country filled with sunshine, beautiful weather, endless summer and sea. All along Israel’s coast line from north to south we enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean breeze and waters. At the south most point of our beloved land, all the way south to Eilat we can also enjoy the cool and transparent waters of the Red Sea.

Israelis LOVE the beach. Children grow up at the sea side, families spend their weekends on the hot sand, friendships are celebrated, and many first kisses and loves are entwined with the beach and its romantic atmosphere.

Here are our personal 5 most beloved beaches in Israel, from southernmost to northernmost. Sit back, relax, and imagine yourself touring them with us. Enjoy!

  1. Eilat – Dolphins Reef

On the shores of the Red Sea, is an ecological site unique in Israel and throughout the world where visitors can enjoy a natural atmosphere, magical views, secluded beach, together with the unusual opportunity of meeting and observing dolphins in their natural habitat.
A group of “bottlenose” dolphins, including babies born at the site, maintain their daily routine of hunting, playing, courting and socializing. They are free to choose between human company or to continue their daily routine in the group. Visitors can enjoy getting close to the dolphins from the floating piers and observation points or during one of the magical guided swims or dives, suitable to anyone who is not afraid of getting wet.
It is an unbelievable experience to spend time with this majestic beings, and just spending a day at the dolphins’ reef is a beautiful experience on its own.
  1. Palmachim – Palmachim South Beach

On the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, between Ashdod and Rishon Lezion, past a Kibbutz by the same name – hides one of Israel’s most beloved beaches. It is almost always packed with bathers and mostly native Israelis, as it is not located next to any famous touristic attractions. If you drive on a little further, heading south, you will find behind the cliff a more intimate and tranquil strip of beach. Unusual untouched wide open space with only hot sand, clear blue waters, the birds and you. It is almost the perfect getaway, and only 40 minutes’ drive from Tel Aviv.
  1. Tel Aviv – Hatzuk North Beach

Hof Hatzuk North, also known as Mandarin Beach is Tel Aviv’s northernmost beach, bordering Herzliya’s beaches.
This is one of Israel’s trendiest beaches to hang out, see and be seen, both on the beach itself, and over the cliff to the north. The beach area itself is beautiful, clean and well-kept. With well-kept grassy lawns, benches above the beach, walking paths, and lounge chair rentals, and even a great outdoor gym. On hot summer nights, it’s a great place to enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer, with hopefully a sea breeze. During the summer, the beach is still full until midnight.
  1. Haifa – The Student’s Beach

A long and stretchy beach strip that goes alongside the road all the way south to Atlit, about 10 Kilometres, offers one of Israel’s greatest beaches, in Haifa, capital of the north. Student beach attracts, hmmm….. Students, but also other young people from the city and surroundings. It is natural, clean and simple, and in some places even wild. Israelis come to surf the waves and bath in the beautiful waters. Because it is truly authentically beautiful there. There also summer parties now and then, that are less peaceful, but real FUN!
  1. Achziv – Achziv Beach

Away from the crowded beaches filled with bathers and Matkot, you will find a hidden gem at Achziv National Park, which sits 5 km north of Nahariya, on the road to Rosh Hanikra in the Western Galilee. This gorgeous coastal area has all sorts of nooks and crannies for curious visitors to explore, including the site of ancient Achziv, dating back to biblical times.

The site’s hushed coves and natural lagoons are packed with intriguing aquatic life, like octopuses writhing through the transparent water and sea urchins hiding among the rocks. The beach is also popular among the turtles that like to lay their eggs there over the summer. It’s also a frequented by holidaying couples, with its salty air, charming coastline and magical sunsets providing the perfect setting for a romantic beach walk
